upgrade from RB2011UiAS to something faster - RB450Gx4 ?

Hi all, I've been using the rb2011 for several years now, happy user. I'm about to get faster internet (NBN - please stop snickering), so I'm looking at models that will handle higher throughput and after people's recommendations. Things I care about... * I'm running a few VLANs. there was one rb or Hex model that I played with that didn't handle VLANs as well as the 2011 but I can't remember the reason now. Might have been a software switch and not hardware or something like that. * IPSEC - the 2011 tops out around 16Mbit before it flakes out in my experience. Would like to get more throughput.. if I look at the RB450Gx4 specs and pick the worst-case IPSEC throughput, it claims to do 20Mbit which is better than my real-world experience with the RB2011. * Non-IPSEC NAT - would like it to comfortably handle 100Mbit * I'm running a few other things but nothing that should be too taxing (logging, not a huge number of policies, only a little bit of mangling). * Don't want wifi on it * Don't need POE * Would love to be able to export / import my RB2011 config and have that work :) but I'm guessing it'll have to be a rebuild based upon prior experience switching models. Asterisk Monitoring with The Dude

Hi all. I am wanting to monitor an asterisk box with our Dude implementation, I know I have done it before years ago but can't find any info on how. There are some other ways or doing it but ultimately I want to monitor the asterisk SIP port and make sure it is accepting connections and responding. Does anybody have any probe configuration information that works and that they are willing to share ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul

There’s this... (A quote from someone from a message here a while back I copied for reference). I recently wrote in the MT forums about using a compatible B28 card's : Quectel EP06-E(~$110) & Quectel EC25(~$65). I have successfully tested the EC25 in a LtAP, and the big brother EP06-E in a wAP ac(RBwAPGR-5HacD2HnD). Outdoor Modems with band 28 support

Hi Guys, I am looking for an outdoor modem with band 28 700MHz support, what are the latest options. I like the LHG and SXT-LTEs but none of them support B28. I would like a Mikrotik based device preferably but happy to consider other options. Regards Andrew

Interface queues

4G service providers

Hello, We’re using a 4G service as a backup link at a few sites. Unlike some of the commentary I’ve seen on this list. Rather than a USB dongle (which we had some issues with previously) we use a Huawei 4G Router (B525), which connects to a Mikrotik via a LAN port. The B525 has proven to be a very robust device and I would recommend it (govt security concerns aside). With the B525 you supply a SIM card. To date we have been using Telstra via M2M One, which has been quite reliable except for one huge outage which took their network down for a few days – some months ago now. The issue with the Telstra SIM is that while the data is unlimited – so it is a scalable solution, the data charges are also pretty steep. So I’m interested in what alternatives others might be using - I recently saw some comments about prepaid dongles with Optus or Telstra, this wouldn’t be my preferred option, but I am interested to know what they cost and what they provide - More interested in SIM card service providers (i.e. alternatives to M2M One / Telstra that would be more affordable in the event that a backup link switched to primary) Cheers, Vaughan

Wireless Management Protection and Radar Detect

Hi all, We had an old Omnitik which was servicing one close customer, it was also kept as a backup for another radio nearby just in case of problems. We had some issues with the ethernet port on this Omnitik so decided to replace it with a newer AC model and everything went fine with the swap over, everything about the unit stayed the same, frequency, band, etc. We are operating it on a DFS frequency as it's only short range, we only need low power so it was a good use of spectrum for the location, however since the change we have been getting numerous radar detect instances, previously we never had any from this radio on that frequency. Was there any changes in later versions of the Omnitik that might have made them more sensitive to radar detection or anything which might trigger it ? The radio also now seems to have management protection failures on the wireless link as well, even though the security profile has management protection disabled. Once the CPE drops off it really won't come back until we disable an enable the AP wireless interface, and if we change frequency of the AP the CPE won't connect either, it's quite strange. CPE and AP are running 6.44.5 ROS with everything updated Any thoughts ? Regards Paul

Ethernet over Twisted Pair

Good news on the Proscend PS180-T SFP certification. What’s the verdict on using twisted pair in place of cat 5/6 where re-cabling isn’t possible? Can I use 2 MK routers with an sfp module in each to achieve this? Would I use pppoe or some other config? Is the above sfp module appropriate for the job? September is the month of surprises! We received physical lab test reports today showing compliance of Proscend PS180-T SFP form factor VDSL modems to all relevant AU regulations - so they can now be used for public telecommunications services (including NBN) AND you can admit to doing so! ;-) And so long as they don't melt the SFP cage casings :-}

CRS317-1G-16S+RM stock testing results :)

Good afternoon Public mail list subscribers :) I hope everyone is well, I am just sending out an email to update everyone on the issue that a small batch of the CRS317-1G-16S+ where having with links set to/negotiated at 10Gbps that Shane brought up on the 17th of August. Since this was brought up Duxtel has been in contact with Mikrotik and removed these products from the Duxtel online shop to prevent anyone else having the same issues just until we were able to test if the units we currently have in stock experience the same issue. We are happy to announce that the units we have in stock have not shown any signs of the issue and should be available to purchase again :) Moving forward we plan to test each of these devices once we receive them from Mikrotik until we can confirm that this manufacturing error is no longer an issue, if you do have a unit that has been effected by this we would recommend upgrading to router OS 6.46beta40+(just for troubleshooting) as Mikrotik has indicated that there should be a fix for this issue in it as well as netinstalling the device. If these troubleshooting steps do not work please open up a RMA case with the distributor you brought the device of. Regards Aidan Goggin :)
