I have fiddled with the TP-LINK MR6400 which supports these bands and can be put in bridge mode, also has LAN connections. 4G: FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20 (2100/1800/2600/900/800MHz) TDD-LTE B38/B39/B40/B41 (2600/1900/2300/2500MHz) 3G: DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS B1/B8 (2100/900MHz) What also looks to be an option is the Telstra 4GX E8372 dongle which supports DMZ if you need to connect to a VPN server behind it when your main WAN connection fails. I also was able to unlock mine with a guide on the internet and confirmed working with Optus/Vodafone sims and my Telstra business sim. Only 700/1800/2100/2600 on 4g though. Beagle telecommunications offer static ip's on Optus 4g/3g network, NO CARRIER NATTING!!! http://www.beagle.com.au/broadband/mobile_standard.html I use this DMZ approach with my own setup on a Technicolor TG789ac v2 (FTTN). This is because I still want to use the VoIP function of the modem and internally vlan ports 2-4 + WiFi which connect to my local subnet on the rb2011. The technicolour is configured with a 10.10.10.2 DMZ which is my RB2011's WAN1 IP, Technicolor LAN IP is 10.10.10.1, rb2011 subnet IP 10.10.11.1, VLAN Subnet IP on Technicolor is 10.10.11.2. Bit different but I have had no issues with L2TP IPSec / OVPN & SSTP connections so far. HI Malcolm, I haven't any recommendations but an issue and question. With the E8732 units that you use can you DMZ with them and do you get a Static IP from amaysim for remote access via winbox / vpn? I have been testing with a E3372h and it seems to crash when under load. Do you have such an issue with the E8732's? Comments on PPPOE Interfaces

I just noticed that when adding or changing a comment on a PPPOE Client interface the interface drops, is this by design and normal ? I wouldn't have thought an interface should drop just by adding a comment, an Ethernet interface certainly doesn't. Thanks Paul

Playing Nicely...it’s not that hard !

Today we found an issue which has been causing us problems for a few days on one of our backup wireless links, normally it's not needed and has been in place for about 4 years, but when a primary radio failed on Friday this link came up and started working, kind of. The AP which this link hangs off runs two other sites for us and as soon as this link sprung into action and started doing some decent traffic the other two sites died a horrible death. After replacing radios, antennas, frequency swapping and doing pretty much everything we could we just couldn't get around what seemed to be interference away from this AP. We ended up dropping the bandwidth to these sites to get them stable and after doing more investigation after hours found that one of the sites was the one causing issues. After visiting the site this morning to replace the radio we found that somebody, and possibly somebody on this list as it's Mikrotik gear, has slapped a 30dbi Mikrotik dish with a Netmetal strapped to it just 1 metre away from our gear, to make it worse they have run their signal path right across ours when there were many different mounting options on this building, it's just sad to see that people don't give one toss about others in the industry sometimes. With a 30dbi dish and Netmetal I am sure they are running illegal power, and this explains perfectly our interference issue. Just how somebody can knowingly fire a signal right across you just 1 metre away flabbergasts me. If you run Mikrotik gear and you have gear in Bella Vista NSW you might just be the person I don't like now. For everybody's sake please make sensible decisions in the unlicensed wireless space, only use the power you really need, and don't cross peoples paths, choose a more sensible mounting location. If we all play fair in this tight space we can all make a dollar and have happy customers. Regards Paul

SXT Kernel failures and reboots

Hi All, I have posted before about RBSXT reboots for no reason but nobody else seems to be having the issues. We found that upgrading to 3.41 firmware seemed to stabilise them for some time, but in the last couple of weeks they just started rebooting again for no reason, sometimes every 4 or 5 days even. Has anybody else come across this issue ? Netinstall isn't really a viable issue for the majority of them as they are of course up on masts and in production, I am looking for some way of trying to stabilise them if possible. They are currently running 6.40.8 or 6.40.9 and 3.41 firmware. Any thoughts would be appreciated apart from replacing them. Regards Paul

LED colours on an RB260GSP...?

I can't seem to find good info on what exactly the led colors mean on an RB260GSP. When it's powering an RB951G via PoE, the relevant port's LED is basically amber, but it flicks red frequently and irregularly with activity. If I power the RB951G from mains, but still connected to port1 on RB260GSP, the relevant port LED on the RB260GSP shows steady green or flickers with activity in very much the same pattern as the amber/red does. The RB951G powering is not suffering while on PoE as far as I can tell. No console interruptions, no packet loss, so the power input must be fairly steady. I think the amber colour is actually green plus red, and when the green flickers off during activity, the LED looks red. Which would mean that the LED is actually always showing red... Any clues?
