Anyone using MPLS and CCR or RoS-x86 at any scale in AU I have a backbone that's been extending and upgrading soon to be 10gbe and 5 POPs. just wondering if some CCR1072 and just l2 switching would be viable so cope with the mixed BW links and path management. I also need to use the switches to terminate the fibre based on a number of SFP and distance discussions. The plan to this point is Telco Systems, Juniper or Similar but thought I'd ask even tho I think I know the answer which is "not to do it". Thoughts?

Band 28 LTE Card

Hi All, Has anyone had any success with any LTE cards that support band 28 (Telstra's 700Mhz band) with Mikrotik equipment. Im toying around with the idea of putting a hotspot on board an aircraft and you really cant beat the range of Telstra's new band and before anyone says anything about mobile phones on board aircraft I understand the laws and responsibility here. Im a licensed pilot. I already have an Iridium hotspot on board but 2400BPS is not very useful for anything other them SMS and the IPAD does an amazing job on band 28 in 90% of the time but im trying to get an extra 8~9 % Matt. -- /* Matt Perkins Direct 1300 137 379 Spectrum Networks Ptd. Hi All! I receive questions from various folks from time to time who need to take advantage of dark fibre runs > 20Km. I have already received confirmation from MT that none of their products currently support power required to deliver greater than LR modules, so I suppose that the only option is for some kind of third party switch or media converter would be required when using MikroTik routers at the endpoints? Here is a query I received this afternoon: "What are after is integrating a 45km Single mode dark fibre into our network, obviously mikrotik routers on each end. If we could push 10Gbps that would be awesome, however if we could obtain 2 or 3Gbps with a lot less effort that would most likely be the go to start with." Does anyone have any suggestions for the OP? (I suggested that he post here, but perhaps he's a bit too shy to post in a public forum, so I offered to ask on behalf ;) Any comments will be most appreciated! Cheers, Mike.

BGP and CCR

Hey All. I know there are promises in ROS7 for better BGP performance but the CCR and the ever slow BGP is starting to grow very tired for me. Waiting 5-10mins everytime you change a filter or update a table is coming more than inconvenient. That being said, I see only two options available to me. 1. RouterOS on x86 and to look at a dual core system with a high clock speed in the 3Ghz range, however I have to be very careful around support/capability of disk controllers and others or I might end up with 6 machines I cant use or have to run it inside a VM. 1.a is RoS X86 still oly 32bit so limited to 4GB RAM? 1.b Anyone have any known good configurations with high CPU configs and dual power? 2. Swap to Vyatta/Brocade which is not really something I want to do, but if I have too I will. Advice/Experience appreciated. Thanks Daniel

Omnitik Half Duplex Issue

Hi guys, a while back I asked the list about the issues we seem to have with Omnitik 5Hnd units and them randomly syncing up in half-duplex 10M, I have exhausted all options with these and after just having yet another one do it I am at my wits end. It doesn't seem to matter whether you use auto-negotiate or try and hard set the interface speed on the device itself or the device that plus into it but they just randomly decide to go to 10M half-duplex, has anybody else seen this and come up with a concrete fix by any chance ? It only happens on Omnitiks and it seems that it's only on the ether1 port from what I can see. Regards Paul

Compatible OpenVPN Server

Hi all, Just wondering if any of you can vouch for particular VPN providers that have OpenVPN that actually works with the Mikrotik implementation? I've tried both PIA and NordVPN, but both are incompatible for various reasons. I'd also prefer to stick with providers that have reasonable policies of privacy, but I understand if privacy vs. compatibility does not exist (as per HMA). Thanks in advance! -Stephen

multi slot Tik box

Howdy all, Having a look at routerboard.com recently makes me wonder if there are too many models available. This got me to thinking about a multi slot Tik box, something along the lines of other big companies e.g. Ci$co 2800 series integrated routers. I realise this would increase costs but it could mean that you pay for what you need with the possibility of upgrading later on. Just wondering what others might think. Hi I have to admit it was a while ago. Also I looked through the slides from Melbourne they mentioned it would be fixed in 7 ... soon :) I had 2 VM's which were able to iperf 9.8Gb/s tcp. Any one tried doing this ? I want to rate limit what guest can download from the internet. Previously I tried doing this with delaying/rate limiting ack's. It has been a long time since I have dobe that Anyone had any success with this ? A
