Thanks for your reply Karl, I am baffled by it, but somehow convinced that it's something broken in the POE department, however I'm with you, I don't see how if something is hard set to 100 FULL on both sides that it can talk one minute and then not the next ! Usually it's when leaving stuff as all Auto and then something goes wrong that I change to hard set, but then you still see problems as well. Hi All, is there an actual way of making mikroik routerboards work when on a fixed duplex and speed setting ?, like one that actually works ?
One obvious if clunky solution would be a simple scheduled script that sets up speed/duplex the way you want them every (say) minute. A slightly less clunky solution would be to set it only if not already correct. This could be combined with logging to give you some accurate info on how often and and on which devices it is happening. You may find some regularities in the events that get you further towards a resolution.
Even when talking to each other they seem to hold no regard for any hard set parameters and just randomly go to 10M half duplex or something stupid for no reason.
After one has unexpectedly changed, do you see anything in the logs around the time of the change? It does seem odd that a hard set parameter would change, unless the actual interface itself is "disappearing" somehow and upon return is a "new" interface and thus has all defaults/auto settings. Are other hard set parameters changing at the same time? A comment or name would be a cheap and harmless "hard set" thing to set and watch. I have never set duplex or speed; I have always allowed the auto settings to do their stuff and it has always seemed to work. Are there other, possibly non-obvious, settings related to the duplex/speed settings that could be conflicting or taking priority?
