I’ve been using the EC 25 au successfully ( strictly for lab purposes of course as it’s not certified with any MikroTik Devices). As far as I’m aware it’s the only modem that works well with MikroTik on Band 28. No point setting up as PPP IMO as speed is limited to 30 Mbps. There’s a guide I can point you to if need be to get it up and running as an LTE Interface. It then requires AT chat commands to change the bands or to see what band you’re on. I know that’s not the easy setup you’re looking for but as far as I’m aware it’s the best option out there. In terms of choosing a device, if I had to restrict it to one I guess it would be the SXTLTE, perhaps the best compromise. There’s also the LTap mini, ltap and the LHT lte. I think it’s important to either have a decent antenna built-in or to have the option for external antennas. I’ve had zero success with pass through and have given up on it. It’s not that much of an advantage anyway as you’re still stuck with double nat unless you go with a carrier grade sim option. Most people don’t want to spend the money on that.

Good afternoon Mailing list,
I am just emailing see if anyone out there has suggestions on LTE modems that support band 28 work well with Mikrotik devices? We are seeking to find a mini-PCIe modem that will work on router OS 6 without needing to do to much to get it working as well as offer existing functionalitys like passthrough ect that we can certify and offer a cheaper solution when compared to the Chateau.
As well as this any feedback on what devices you would like to see support the band 28 card or any information on how the most comman installation you would be using this device and the functionality you would need will greatly help us in our desisions on what device/s we would certify.
Regards Aidan :)

I had been playing with a B28 Telit LE910 from https://www.glynstore.com/wireless-cellular/ a while back. Have a look at the old messages in this forum. I had it working in USB-Serial/PPP mode and was waiting for ROS7 and MBIM mode support but haven't tried that. The Telit's are meant for robust industrial applications so are a good fit for Mikrotik.
Glyn have a technical/engineering/sales person in Melbourne. I also have Glyn's firmware programming and serial breakout board for the Telits I can sell to you for less than their price. PM me.

I should add the USB-CDC serial mode with PPP worked in ROS6. USB-ECM wouldn't work as a certain AT command needed to be sent. Mikrotik logged in from Latvia and checked it out but wouldn't commit to sending this command to get the ECM interface moving data properly through Mikrotik's LTE interface even though it did come up. So this was with the LE910 a few years ago, more recent firmware for the LE910 and newer xE910 modems might be better. MBIM should be fine with it but of course only on ROS7.

Hi,
You could try either of these units:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/183849329623
Get the USB adapter as well, it's handy for setup from your PC or use on a USB port on a Mikrotik, mine came with antennas (they aren't mentioned so ymmv).
Downside: I had to trawl the internet to get windows drivers for the modem.
Some setup for them.
https://wisp.net.au/blog/news/mikrotik-routeros-with-ec25au-card-settings-an...
I don't remember which, but some 4g modems are only seen once on the Mikrotik. (eg. If you reset the USB, or unplug the modem, and replug it in, it might not be seen again until reboot) This might also only be a v7 issue.
Regards Roger

The landscape for 4G data access is always changing. I am trying to find SIM plans that will work in a Mikrotik 4G unit. I have ruled out some Optus based ones as the plans are locked to the IMEA or only certain IMEAs are permitted.
Here is a Telstra SIM plan with generous data:
https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summaries/personal/mobi...
So do Optus:
https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/plans/shop?SID=con:mcat:3up:2:nov19:postmob:... https://smb.optus.com.au/opfiles/Shop/All/cis/Cis%20Documents/34411764_119_O...
Now I see on Whirlpool people saying it's only for phones and tablets but in practise people putting them in devices that aren't a phone aren't penalised or disconnected.
I am typically trying to find alternatives to poor NBN-FW and NBN-Satellite services for rural customers. I know Starlink is coming and I have an email that their service is in beta in parts of Victoria. The addresses I have tried say later in 2021.
What are carriers and plans are you guys using these days with success with large data caps and decent prices in Mikrotik gear?
