Watchdog timer is designed to detect a software hang and reboot in that case. However, there are some cases where router /seems/ to be hung but is actually still running - examples include 100%CPU conditions, high traffic on interface attempting to connect to or BGP/routing issue preventing access. In these cases, watchdog timer will not trigger system recovery - that is why watch address helps to recover from those other conditions. Were you able to get any supout file of any use? (i.e. was there an auto-supout created?) Cheers, Mike.

Hi
I had one of my ccr's dye last night, just locked up, very annoying had just finished dinner !
/system watchdog> print watch-address: none watchdog-timer: yes no-ping-delay: 5m automatic-supout: yes auto-send-supout: no
why didn't this kick in ? I'm not watching an address but I do have the timer on ?
should have I expected this to have auto restarted.
When I got to the box the touch wasn't working !
