For reference; we've worked out you can run up to 2500~ service probes on a windows based install of the dude before you start seeing odd issues/rolling fluctuations and timeouts on probes. If you're willing to increase the timeouts to 5 minutes; reduce ICMP probes and set your timeout threshold to 3 failed probes you can get up to 4000~ service probes running with reduced accuracy. As for alternatives: - OpenNMS - PRTG - Nagios - Cacti - Solarwinds - Observium Hope this helps! Cheers, Andrew On 4 August 2014 14:25, Mike Everest <mike@duxtel.com> wrote:
Daniel, all,
Although it definitely has its limitations, I like the Dude because it is relatively simple, small, and generally effective for what I need it for.
We certainly don't have a /large/ network to manage, though, comprising probably less than 50 monitored devices.
What kind of extra/different functionality are you after, and what limitations of dude are causing you the most grief? Have you tried any other solutions yet? Cactii and Nagios are the usual favourites!
Cheers, Mike.

Hi All.
As my fleet continues to grow I am just wondering if anyone has a central management solution for the RB platform.
The Dude is really poor to be honest and wondering if anyone has something else?
Thoughts?
