Hi Ben, First extract 'user-manager' package from the all-packages archive, copy it to the filesystem root and reboot. Just make sure that it is the same version as the active routerOS! ;) Cheers, Mike.

Thanks Paul and Mike.
I'm stuck trying to install the user manager package.
I've upgraded the router (RB951) to the latest routerOS and firmware (6.22) and I have uploaded the "all-packages" file and rebooted. I can't see the user manager package enabled, although I can see it in the "Files" area.

Hi Ben,
MikroTik hotspot also has 'trial' feature - you can set a 'time limit' and a 'reset limit' (for example 1 hour per 24 hours). It allows to allocate a trial access based on mac address of connected user.
There is also the optional MikroTik User Manager which allows you to create and print one-time access vouchers with download limit as well as time limit, and also can be integrated to paypal if needed. User-manager is an optional routerOS package - look for it in the 'all packages' archive on mikrotik.com/download
Of course if you are looking for something with a centralised administration, capable of managing many hotspot devices across many locations, and with automated revenue sharing functionality, online payments and ISP customer provisioning, (and more...) then talk to us about our solution for these sort of network services.
Cheers! Mike.

Hi all,
I’m looking for a way to set a download quota on a Mikrotik router for guests at some rental accommodation.
Had a google about and didn’t find anything that made sense to me. I guess I need to use the “hotspot” feature?
The guests will be connecting via wi-fi and getting dhcp-assigned addresses so it can’t be done with “pre-known" or static IP’s.
I did look to see if the UniFi AP's I am using have this feature, and they supposedly do but I have had no luck getting it to work, even after following the cheat sheet. I also feel that this type of thing is better placed to be controlled on the router.
Thanks,
