Mmm, OK that just did it for me.....all our backhaul stuff is 5Ghz and mostly dual band. They only work in wireless-cm2. It's a moot point though with 6.36. On 28 July 2016 at 15:36, Aaron Were <awere@tdj.com.au> wrote:
I've found no functional difference with C APsMAN disabled, only seven mt wireless devices though. YMMV. This is what swayed me: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=99017 Hadn't actually removed the fp package, just disabled it. I found when upgrading , the fp package simply disappeared by itself. :-) Yes, I do recommend testing! At the very least with one that you've Ethernet access to should it break your config. I've not used NV2. Had to look that up, sounds interesting, not sure why it wouldn't work on cm2 though. In what way is it impacted? According to http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=98817 if there is a performance difference, you should contact them ASAP.

What's the chance of some setting not taking and not being able to get back in through wireless interface ?
That's what I'm concerned about, but from what I read you can only have one wireless package installed for the upgrade to work to the next version 6.37, I can only assume that means you can have ANY one wireless package installed, is that how you read it ? or does it have to be wireless-cm2 ?
I'm not sure what to make of this: Note, there will be only one "wireless" package in the next RouterOS v6.37. If you are not using "routeros" bundle package and have two wireless packages installed, uninstall one wireless package before upgrade to 6.37. For other cases simply upgrade to 6.37 version.
So just need to make sure you don't have two packages installed then ? So even though this is for 6.36 before upgrading to 6.37 you need to uninstall the wireless package you aren't using, assuming you have two installed, restart, then install the upgrade and it will upgrade the package you have left ?
I think this will need some bench testing before doing live upgrades through wireless.....
We have been sticking with the wireless-fp package as it seems better for NV2, any thoughts on the differences between the wireless-fp and wireless-cm2 packages in this respect ?

Enable wireless-cm2 as you disable wireless-fp, should be good mate.

Hi guys, I noticed in the change log of the latest ROS version 6.36 it talks about wireless packages and needing to uninstall wireless-fp package before installing the upgrade, apart from a lot of changes in this one !
So apart from visiting all of our sites running this package so that we can connect via Ethernet to upgrade these routers does anybody have more information as to the impact or alternate options to achieve the upgrade over the wireless link ?
*) wireless - wireless-fp is discontinued, it needs to be uninstalled/disabled before upgrade
