I did think about this a while back and never tried it but: * Buy an Australian VPN service with a static IP. * Use any old 3G/4G service with a dynamic IP. * Use one of the Mikrotik VPN interfaces to bind the VPN static IP to. If you use OpenVPN with UDP it has the feature that if the actual data connection breaks for a few moments it doesn't kill your main IP sessions running over the link. They will time out of their own accord if the link is down too long but can resume if OpenVPN can re-establish a link in time. On 13 May 2015 at 14:33, RJ Plummer <RJ.Plummer@4logic.com.au> wrote:
Telstra doesn't offer these without a lot of strings attached.
To get a static via Telstra you need to have a IP WAN with a mobile gateway service and then a certain # of mobile data services, which you can then assign ip's to etc etc. so it's just not really an option without the other infrastructure.
You can get a dynamic public IP via their "Telstra.extranet" apn which you can call and ask for but not a static. You'll either need to make do with Telstra and a dynamic ip or use an alternate provider like hutchison or a reseller (I think there was one called beagle telecom that did fairly decent plans with static ip's)

Hi guys, is anybody currently using a 3G/4G mobile sim in a router/device that has a static public IP ?
I can't find anybody in Telstra who actually realises that they sell such a plan so can't get any traction on it even though I know that people definitely have them and use them.
Can anybody tell me how to order such a service ?
