CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN usb port not working with LTE
Hi Guys, I have a Huawei E8372 that works on a hAP just fine. But when I plug it into a CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN it does not register as an LTE device even though both devices are running the same firmware. Nor does it work as a PPP device on either mikrotik. Has any one had luck getting the USB port to work on the CRS? Any help would be very happily received! Thanks Andrew
Hmm, the MF823 'just works' on the CRS109 for me. When you say 'plug it in', you're power cycling the CRS after plugging it in yeah? While you can power cycle the USB port to reset a locked up LTE dongle, the dongle must be plugged in when the CRS boots, for it to see it in the first place.. I'll try plugging it in and then powering on in the morning but I was able to plug it into a hAP, mAP and a CCR1009 and it was recognised immediately with out reboot. All running 6.33 or 6.33.1. Actually that's a good point - I don't need to reboot my mAP's to plug the dongles in.. Maybe it's a CRS oddity? :) On 25 November 2015 at 23:43, <andrew@gilbett.net> wrote:

The same issue exists for the RB2011, you need to plug the module in and then power it up. I suspect it puts the USB port in the right mode (host). On 25 November 2015 at 23:49, Damien Gardner Jnr <rendrag@rendrag.net> wrote:

So I power cycled the CRS with the modem plugged in and it came up when the router had rebooted. BUT… it was very unstable it kept dropping the lte interface and the dhcp lease kept getting renewed so it appears that it is not all plain sailing. Are there any settings for maximum current on the USB port on the CRS? What you are describing sounds like a power issue. On 26 November 2015 at 08:15, <andrew@gilbett.net> wrote:

From some reading in the forums, make sure your power supply that is feeding the MT unit is up to task(e.g higher amp unit), as the current draw from the USB modem can be significant. Got a similar issues on an RB2011 where it keeps dropping. I setup a netwatch to hit the IP of the dongle, if it can’t get to it it resets the USB power. Seems to work well. Just to follow up on this (sorry I know its a little late). It would appear that it was a power supply issue as I swapped the standard 24v plug pack out for a 48V POE injector and I had no further issues. It even worked over a 20m Ethernet lead! I also found that there was a difference between the MT supplied micro USB adaptor and other generic ones, as the generic ones did not work very well likely a voltage drop issue but the MT supplied on worked a LOT more reliably. A full sized USB port would be much better! Also I just saw the SXT LTE, which would have been perfect for this application. Does anyone know about when it will be available in AU and maybe even how much? On Thu, Nov 26, 2015 at 12:18 PM, Dave Browning <dave@sentrian.com.au> wrote:
