Hi everyone I've seen the list of supported USB modems (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware#4G_LTE_cards_and_modems), but does anyone know if there's one that I can use for a client who's with Vodafone (and where I could acquire one)? It's just for a backup link in case the ADSL goes down, so if not I may just tell them to get a Telstra pre-paid device. Regards Russell
As tested (and working on VFAU) v6.35.4 Acquire one of these: E3276 (White) (Unlocked) Apply this: https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/iiattachlink?id=56735 /port firmware set ignore-directip-modem=yes /interface ppp-client add apn=live.vodafone.com default-route-distance=10 dial-on-demand=no disabled=no info-channel=1 name=4G port=usb1 use-peer-dns=no -----Original Message----- From: Public [mailto:public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au] On Behalf Of Russell Hurren Sent: Tuesday, 12 July 2016 1:08 AM To: 'MikroTik Australia Public List' <public@talk.mikrotik.com.au> Subject: [MT-AU Public] USB 4G Modem for Vodafone Hi everyone I've seen the list of supported USB modems (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported_Hardware#4G_LTE_cards_and_modems), but does anyone know if there's one that I can use for a client who's with Vodafone (and where I could acquire one)? The device arrived today. I tried to apply the firmware update, but it asked for a password. Any ideas? The guy I got it from (eBay) said they haven't put any passwords on the device. -----Original Message----- From: Public [mailto:public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au] On Behalf Of Russell Hurren Sent: Tuesday, 12 July 2016 10:06 To: 'MikroTik Australia Public List' <public@talk.mikrotik.com.au> Subject: Re: [MT-AU Public] USB 4G Modem for Vodafone Thanks Tim, I've found one on eBay. Admin / admin normally Also I don't believe you need to do the 'ignore direct ip modem' on these, they should work as a LTE interface. Just apply the apn and add a dhcp client on the interface. Most of these dongles have Wi-Fi hotspots which I normally disable. James Symon | IT Support Officer - Systems Engineer This email, including any attachments, is only for the intended addressee. Admin /admin didn't work - turns out I needed a code specific to the device, calculated from the IMEI. Found it at http://huaweicodecalculator.com/ Seems to be working now. Doesn't seem to matter whether 'ignore direct ip modem' is set, but I do have to use ppp, not lte/dhcp. I tested it with my spare Telstra sim, but the client will be using Vodafone. Presume it'll work with just a change of APN. Thanks everyone -----Original Message----- From: Public [mailto:public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au] On Behalf Of James Symon Sent: Friday, 15 July 2016 18:02 To: MikroTik Australia Public List <public@talk.mikrotik.com.au> Subject: Re: [MT-AU Public] USB 4G Modem for Vodafone Admin / admin normally Also I don't believe you need to do the 'ignore direct ip modem' on these, they should work as a LTE interface.
