Hi folks, A couple of people have asked me about submitting commercial news to this list, but since the original intent was to always keep this one free of commercial content, marketing material and general advertising, I continue to advise that we should avoid that kind of post to this list. The next question, then, is whether anyone considers some value in a new list just for that kind of material. We already have jobs@talk.mikrotik.com.au for employment opportunity posts, would it be worth also creating a list like announcements@talk.mikrotik.com.au for posts like when new products are available or training programs are planning? Perhaps revision of the rules (and name) for jobs list to /include/ announcements? We have about ½ dozen subscribers to jobs at the moment, would anyone consider subscribing to announce? Suggestions/comments? Cheers! Mike.
Hello Mike, If "announce/announcements" would have anything not normally found in the newsletters etc. then yes, I would subscribe. Steve, all, Since these lists are AU-specific, the idea is that content is all about /local/ information so it probably would not be announced in official MT newsletters - for example someone wanting to offer some specific product and/or service (training, installations, used equipment for sale, etc) that would be arguably not kosher for this general 'advertising content free' list :) Cheers, Mike. list

I feel initially it would be better to have all content in just one or two lists until there's enough daily messages to warrant splitting it out into Jobs/Announcments etc. - Andrew On 30 April 2014 12:55, Mike Everest <mike@duxtel.com> wrote:

Hi, New to the list but agree with Andrew. You could always modify the subject line with something different ( [MT-AU Announce] ) cheers Paul Arch

I'll third that - having it in one list initially is a good idea, denoted by subject. That's certainly what a Linux mailing list I read does, and that works well. I know people who filter posts with subjects of "[job] foo" or "[announce] bar", and no-one seems to complain. I don't mind some commercial/jobs posts to this list while we're small; that's easier for me than subscribing to seperate lists (that I then have to unsubscribe to seperately if I ever want to). - Ben On Wed, Apr 30, 2014 at 1:22 PM, Paul Arch <paul@esidium.com.au> wrote:

I also agree, simpler to keep in one spot as long as we don't get bombarded Regards Paul
