Hi I know about the vrrp on backup / master events. Are there any ways to capture when an interface comes up. for example if an interface changes state to up I would like to run a script and if it goes off being up then run another scripts Alex

Hi Alex, You would have to do it with script that continually monitors interface state and executes some action when there is a change, or (perhaps better) scheduled script that runs every <n> minutes. Cheers! Mike. script and

Yuck :) Its amazing how google fu always seems to get better after posting to the mailing list. The only options schedule, netwatch and one other that escapes me right now. The netwatch seems to be like the Cisco sla. it and the schedule are active monitoring, which seems like a bad option in this case. A On 24 April 2017 at 13:33, Mike Everest <mike@duxtel.com> wrote:

The only way that doesn't involve 'active monitoring' would be to try sending snmp trap on that vrrp interface state change, and then on the snmp trap target find a way to iussue some command via routerOS API. But is there some reason why you don't like active monitoring by scheduler or script? (It doesn't need to take up any significant resources to implement) Cheers! Mike.

I don't believe in active or passive in this sort of setup. the box knows when the interface does up and down, it would be nice, like they do for VRRP to add a handle to attach to. Alex On 24 April 2017 at 13:50, Mike Everest <mike@duxtel.com> wrote:

Believe it or not, it's what we have to work with :-} I do agree with you though - it is something that would be useful in many many cases but these work-arounds are still quite effective for all cases I've encountered thus far ;) Cheers! Mike.
