This is an abuse of the mailing list as I could probably figure this out by dint of diligent Googling, but just in case someone has an easy answer... I have finally got the go-ahead to upgrade two Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD units running 6.36. I want to take them to version 6.48.6 (long-term). Can I do that in one jump? Any gotchas? Regards, K. PS: These routers are from 2015 and have never missed a beat, though one did get compromised. I like hardware that just keeps on keeping on. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Karl Auer (kauer@nullarbor.com.au) work +61 2 64957435 http://www.nullarbor.com.au mobile +61 428 957160
G'day! It's not an abuse at all - tis exactly what the list is for! :-D (and the answer is 'yes' - highly unlikely to cause you any grief, but always make a backup and/or export before you upgrade 'just in case' ; ) Cheers! -----Original Message----- From: Public <public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au> On Behalf Of Karl Auer Sent: Friday, 3 March 2023 10:58 AM To: MikroTik Public <public@talk.mikrotik.com.au> Subject: [MT-AU Public] Upgrade from 6.36 to 6.48.6 This is an abuse of the mailing list as I could probably figure this out by dint of diligent Googling, but just in case someone has an easy answer... We have seen some issues with upgrading some units that have wifi, due to upgrades in the wireless package. I think it mainly due to use of nstream and similar features though. If you're not using wifi, or using "normal" wifi that non-MikroTiks can connect to, there shouldn't be any issue. -----Original Message----- From: Public <public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au> On Behalf Of Mike Everest Sent: Friday, 3 March 2023 1:48 PM To: kauer@nullarbor.com.au; 'MikroTik Australia Public List' <public@talk.mikrotik.com.au> Subject: Re: [MT-AU Public] Upgrade from 6.36 to 6.48.6 G'day! We're just using plain ol' wifi, so special configs at all. And I did check I could still connect after the upgrade, so it's all looking good. Many thanks! Well - as a general rule I try to avoid being hit with the "let me google that for you" stick :-)

Your answer arrived literally two minutes after I just went for it (aft er a backup and export of course). I'm pleased to report that it upgraded without the merest shadow of a hint of a glitch.
