Hi All, So it is official: No MUM For Australia this year :( Word is that they have committed to several new countries this year, and so smaller events like ours (105 in Brisbane, 91 in Sydney) are not considered high priority areas. Suggestion is that they will consider AU again for 2015. For it to happen, they need to feel like there will be a good showing - perhaps we can run a demand register again? Incidentally, as a matter of comparison, last two MUM events I attended myself were Las Vegas in 2012 with about 800 attendance, and Jogyakarta (indo) in 2013 with a massive showing of 1500. Puts our ~100 turn-out into some perspective, but since we do have some reasonable growth here, they have not totally abandoned us (yet ;) Cheers, Mike.
Maybe bringing a demand register from AU/NZ together would give some better numbers? Perhaps even encourage some of the US folks to come out here for a holiday, sunshine and MikroTik :-) - Andrew On 17 June 2014 13:40, Mike Everest <mike@duxtel.com> wrote:

If the date can be picked to back onto another major event, then it is likely that more participants would make an effort to attend. ie some other IT industry show before or after the MUM (CeBit, or even Comic Con or SuperNova) Mark Voevodin On 17 Jun 2014, at 1:43 pm, Andrew Cox <andrew.cox@bigair.net.au> wrote:

Hey great idea! Then I can claim a company expense to attend Comic Con! :-D Wisecracks aside, too, it is a very sensible idea! We have tried to organise this sort of thing in the past (wanted to line up with AusNog conference) but it is hard to make it happen without cooperation from organisers of /both/ events :-} Anyone on this list have any contact points of influence inside any potential alignment organisations/events? Cheers! Mike. likely that
more participants would make an effort to attend.

Although I do support the idea of a MUM in Australia sometime soon, we're also pushing to try to hold one in New Zealand sometime next year. We've got a strong community and would certainly get the numbers to fill. I can send through some lovely pictures of our scenery to tempt you if you'd like ;) -----Original Message----- From: Public [mailto:public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au] On Behalf Of Mike Everest Sent: Tuesday, 17 June 2014 5:28 p.m. To: 'MikroTik Australia Public List' Subject: Re: [MT-AU Public] Australia MUM Hey great idea!
