Hi, I've been testing using a 4G service as a backup WAN link in the event that the Main link goes down. I'd chosen ZettaNet. Good pricing. Static IP address. The sites where I will be deploying this solution host servers (mail etc.) and also have IPsec VPN's with other sites; so the static IP address made failover more straightforward. Unfortunately the ZettaNet service has been unavailable a couple of times now over the past few months and they've not been able to provide an explanation so far for the most recent outage. So I'm starting to look around for possible alternative service providers. So far the other service providers I've contacted are only able to provide a dynamic IP address. At the very least this will make DNS updates and IPsec configuration more involved. Questions 1. Has anybody done this where you're hosting internal servers etc. What service provider are you using? Do they provide a static or dynamic IP address? 2. Any comments on using DDNS in A records on DNS and likewise for creating IPsec VPN's. Is it feasible? Thanks Regards, Vaughan

+1 for M2M one. We have a small number of SIMs with them. They use the Telstra network. Great insight as to what state the SIM is in, connected to network, in session etc. for troubleshooting. Aimed at IOT devices however their plans go 50GB plus and we use just as 4G backup in MikroTik devices. Pricing publicly available on their site if you want to have a gander. I have spoken to M2M as a possible alternative. They do sound competent. However they don't provide a static IP address. Where you guys are using them, do your sites host servers that need to be publicly accessible? -----Original Message----- From: Public [mailto:public-bounces@talk.mikrotik.com.au] On Behalf Of Matt Hare Sent: Wednesday, 11 April 2018 09:15 To: MikroTik Australia Public List Subject: Re: [MT-AU Public] 4G service - backup WAN link +1 for M2M one. I've only used in small business. One used to have an onsite mail server so to combat the issue of undelivered mail we setup a catch-all MX with a cloud provider who would store the mail, then we'd pull it down using POP and the mail server would parse headers, deliver to correct mailboxes etc. They're now Office365 so not an issue. All other sites no need for anything onsite that matters so much they require access when primary links are down, I firmly believe in cloud. We use OpenVPN mainly between sites and generally setup the Tiks to go both ways i.e. each site will have a server and client running. If the primary link is down, the client can still maintain an outbound connection to another site with a static address. Hi, You could configure a Mikrotik CHR on a service like Binary Lane and tunnel to it. You get a static IP on your virtual machine on Binary Lane. You can share the data transfer between all the virtual machines on an account. They have hosting is Mel, Syd, Bri. https://www.binarylane.com.au/ I use a CHR on Binary Lane to host a Dude server monitoring internet performance and connectivity. Regards, Wayne.
